News and Events

We're hiring a, creative, experienced English-speaking teacher for our 3 yr old classroom!

Empezaremos el año escolar de manera virtual (por internet) este otoño.  Por favor aplicar por tutoria o nuestra escuelita abajo.

We will begin our year online this fall. Please fill out an application below. Our kids need us now more than ever!

Supporting our families

The day our school closed, our teachers packed school supplies, books and tablets, which we have delivered to families in stages since mid-March.  Through our partnership with Porch Durham, we have been able to give our families food and gift cards for food shopping.

77% of the COVID cases in Durham County in June were in the Latinx community. In response to many of our students' parents being laid-off or becoming sick, we made grants to families so they could pay their rent and remain housed.

Financial donations enable us to meet the changing needs of our families and our organization. Thank you to our many donors!

This summer, we are raising funds to buy tablets so our preschool and tutoring students can have tablets at home. Virtual learning cannot happen without them!

A special graduation after a special year!

On June 11th we celebrated the of a very strange year. Our evaluation data tell us that our kids made amazing progress and are on track for the future.

Why do we teach our preschool children in English and Spanish?

Several reasons:

1) Children who continue to develop their first language learn a second language better.

2) Learning a second language develops other invaluable skills as well - such as persistence and problem solving.

3) Becoming fluent in a second language is an asset in today's economy.

4) We show our Latinx families that we respect and value their culture.

It's all good!
