Volunteer as a Tutor
LEAP hosts tutoring in-person on Mondays and Tuesdays from 5-7pm at the downtown Durham County Main library. We are recruiting volunteers who can commit to tutoring for 2+ hours during those times. As a volunteer tutor, you will be working one-on-one with a child who is 6-12 yrs old, helping them improve their reading skills. Tutoring usually takes place from late September through early May. All volunteers receive training in our online literacy intervention program and ongoing support to ensure students are progressing in their learning. Apply to be a tutor today!!
Preschool Classroom Volunteer
Our Preschool teachers always need an extra set of hands! If you could commit to playing with our youngest children (ages 3-4) one morning each week on a regular basis, please submit an application to become a Preschool Classroom Volunteer. We do not require masks in the preschool. All staff are vaccinated and we strongly encourage all volunteers who are not vaccinated to wear a mask while inside with students.
