Fernanda Torres

I am overjoyed to be both a teacher and a parent at Nuestra Escuelita!  I was born in Mexico but moved to North Carolina in 2003. As the oldest of five kids I've been taking care of younger children  for as long as I can remember. I began working with elementary and middle school children through my church, El Buen Pastor when I was put in charge of the acolyte group. In 2014 I began working for Head Start as a teacher for preschool aged children. Once my son was born, I left Head Start to focus on being a full time mom.  He  attended LEAP-Nuestra Escuelita for two years (2021-2023) and I quickly fell in love with the school. During his second year at Nuestra Escuelita I started driving the school bus for the school and became the Spanish teacher for the 3 year old classroom in August 2023.

I am so blessed to be working alongside such wonderful individuals who are a strong support team and in a matter of weeks become your family. The best part is having my daughter in the classroom next to mine!
