Celia Mena

I am a proud Latina from Nicaragua and now call Durham home. I hold a Master’s degree in Management of Development with a specialization in Youth, Gender, and Social Inclusion. My work is rooted in grassroots movements in Nicaragua and, more recently, with farmworker and immigrant communities in North Carolina.

Before joining LEAP, I worked at an immigration law firm, supporting immigrant families as they navigated complex legal processes. Prior to that, I lived and worked on a homestead, where I developed a deep appreciation for rural communities, agriculture, and the resilience of farmworkers in North Carolina.

I am passionate about building meaningful partnerships that strengthen communities and expand educational opportunities. I am grateful to be part of LEAP and to contribute to an organization that is creating brighter futures for children and families in Durham.
