There are 2 ways to volunteer with  our kids:

Become a Teaching Assistant at Nuestra Escuelita.

Our bilingual teachers each lead a  class of twelve four-year olds, engaging them in a range of activities which prepare them to enter kindergarten. Teaching assistants help by preparing snack, talking and playing with our children and cleaning up.

We are currently accepting applications from volunteers who can commit to spending one morning each week (Mon, - Thurs.) assisting in one of our classrooms. No experience or Spanish language ability is required.

Volunteer as a tutor.

Our tutoring sessions bring school-aged children together with volunteers from the community to improve their literacy skills. Students admitted to LEAP are typically one or two years behind in reading English and working to overcome a variety of challenges associated with low academic achievement.

We are currently accepting applications for volunteers who can spend Tuesday and/or Thursday evenings (5:30 - 6:30 pm or 6:30 - 7:30 pm) with a student helping them improve their reading skills. (If you can volunteer Tues AND Thurs, please do, but we'll gladly take you one night/week.)  We provide training and on-going support for our tutors!
