Jenny Campa

Mixed Class English Teacher

When I was younger, I dreamed of becoming a teacher. I loved going to school so
much that I always sign myself for summer school and any extracurricular
activities. I have always been involved with teaching children in indirect ways or
even directly, in Mexico I was a volunteer Catechist assistant for the church I
attended at age 10.

In High School I took a class of Exceptional children services
that supported kids with special needs. Eventually, my journey through pursuing
my dream changed when I started my family and became a fulltime mom. But
God and life have always put me back in the right path. In 2017 I attended
Welcome Baby’s parenting classes that supported my kids learning and
development, within that time I was offered a position as a Childcare provider.
Which led me to work with other nonprofits like Cooperative Extension’s, ISLA,
Book Harvest, Durham Children’s Initiative and even assisting in my church
community volunteering in the youth faith formation program.

These places gave me the opportunity to work with children and get involved as an advocate for kids’ education. I am more than grateful to have an opportunity to be part of such an amazing team here at LEAP.
