Sally Stark-Dreifus
Curriculum Director
Sally is an early childhood educator with extensive experience in progressive education and supporting children and families with special needs. Sally holds a BS in Sociology and M.S. in Early Childhood General and Special Education and Infant and Parent Development and Early intervention. Sally spent 11 years in NYC working in independent, progressive schools as both a teacher and administrator. During her time in New York she was the founding PreK teacher at PreK-8th grade startup progressive school and developed the curriculum for the grade level during the school's accreditation process. As a Durham native, Sally was thrilled to move back to the area in 2016 with her family, bring her professional expertise to her hometown, and actively participate in the Durham Public School community as a parent and alum! Working in Reggio inspired preschools in Durham allowed her to connect with her roots and develop partnerships with preschools and local organizations through community service endeavors such as ongoing work with Book Harvest and the NC Diaper Bank. As the mother of two, Sally understands how important early childhood education is and creating healthy relationships between parents and schools in the early years can have a positive impact on a child's overall school experience.
"I am delighted to be a part of the incredible team at LEAP. It is a privilege to be able to connect my knowledge of Reggio and progressive education to the best practices we utilize at LEAP to offer our children and families a child centered, high quality early childhood education program."
